Charity Check began providing services in 1996 to local churches, and benevolent agencies, giving them a way to network information.  This allowed them to ensure the needs of clients were met, and that fraud was detected.  By eliminating fraud, these agencies were able to make better use of their limited resources by ensuring that only those who were really in need received their assistance.  Over the next few years Charity Check began to grow as word spread of it’s benefit to agencies providing assistance to those in need.  In 2003 Charity Check was contacted by a coalition of agencies needing a system to meet HUD standards of data compilation.  Charity Check was approached because of its reputation among the many agencies already using its standard networking program.  In 2005 Charity Check became Charity Check LLC and in 2006 launched its HMIS (Homeless Management Information System) solution.  In developing the HMIS solution, we used as our guideline the Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS); Data and Technical Standards Final Notice of August 2004.  Also we worked in close conjunction with an existing CoC to develop a user friendly program.  It’s this same team approach that we continue to use to ensure that our software solution remains current.  As we strive to stay abreast of HUD changes and with our customers input, Charity Check HMIS will stay at the fore front of providing a leading edge HMIS solution.

Charity Check’s success can be directly attributed to its company structure, which is still in place today.  Ahead of its time, Charity Check developed a philosophy of utilizing sub-contractors to perform most tasks pertaining to its operation.  Through outsourcing of software development we can seek competitive pricing, constrain overhead costs thereby providing an affordable solution to Continuum of Care’s developing an HMIS or seeking to upgrade a current system.
